Richardson, Texas – February 23, 2016 – Vista College was recently named in the Top 25 Fundraising Companies for the 2015 Dallas Heart Walk – American Heart Association’s annual premiere event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers: heart disease and stroke. Vista College first became involved in Heart Walk in 2014 with the support of all of its on-ground campuses operating at that time, as well as its Richardson headquarters. Both years, over 500 Vista staff participated, and in 2015, Vista College’s combined efforts raised over $37,000 for the American Heart Association Dallas Heart Walk.
“It is such an honor to be ranked in the top 25 Dallas companies with our fundraising totals,” said Jim Tolbert, CEO, Vista College. “I couldn’t be more proud of all of our campuses and their involvement, which demonstrates the dedication of our employees toward such a worthy cause. Because we have campuses across Texas and now in two additional states, it is our hope, as a company, to make a significant impact to help our loved ones and many others affected by this disease. We will continue to promote health and wellness within our own workplaces while raising awareness and much needed dollars within all of our communities.”
For both 2014 and 2015, Vista’s Heart Walk campus participants included all seven of its Texas campuses, located in Amarillo, Beaumont, College Station, El Paso, Killeen, Longview and Lubbock, as well as its Las Cruces, New Mexico, campus. Vista’s new Fort Smith, Arkansas, campus will join the effort in 2016.
“Participating in Heart Walk created such excitement on our campus, and we are looking forward to this year’s event in September,” said Antonio Rico, Vista College Campus Director, El Paso. “It was wonderful to see the comradery among our staff as more and more signed up to participate. This event proved to be a fun way for everyone to get together outside of work while doing something meaningful. I highly recommend it to any company.”
“Our campuses are enthusiastically planning for the September Heart Walk and generating some friendly competition to top our fundraising totals from last year,” added Tolbert. “This event is a win-win for everyone.”
