
Vista College prepares Spanish speaking students with the skills they need for a
career as a Nurse Assistant Home Health Aide. The program seeks to teach procedures
in caring for patients who are homebound, in hospitals, or living in long-term
care facilities. Students will learn how to interact with patients and assist
them in basic care needs while maintaining patient rights. Students will be
prepared to pass Texas state certification after technical school with the abilities
to perform CPR, basic first aid, and take vital signs. They will also take
courses to be able to advise patients in nutrition and how to prevent infections.
To complete the requirements for this program, students must be able to demonstrate
their patient care skills and be successful in two clinical externships.
