The Role of the Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Professional

After receiving your Medical Insurance Billing and Coding AAS from Vista College, you will be able to:

  • Properly code diseases, surgeries, medical procedures and other therapies to ensure proper billing.
  • Be prepared to work in hospitals, urgent care facilities, clinics, insurance companies and other locations where medical coding is required.

Our MIBC training program gives you the tools you need to succeed. In addition to medical billing and coding training, coursework entails classroom and/or laboratory training in:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Pathology
  • Medical Office Procedures
  • Pharmacology

Classes in English Composition, Computer Science, Mathematics and Psychology are also included for a well-rounded educational experience. In addition to coursework, you will also participate in an externship that provides valuable on-the-job training in an actual work environment.
